Hendoku Yaku was a smaller, quieter stay than we expected from the ratings, in a good way; the short taxi to Bodega Santa Julia meant we could fit in a tasting without losing much of the day. It felt more like staying with a well-run local host than checking into a hotel.

Hospedaje La Finca felt exactly like its name suggests, a small family-run stay with a genuinely warm welcome, and the short taxi to Bodega Don Manuel Villafañe made it easy to fit in a tasting during our two nights there. It's not a hotel in the conventional sense, more a well-run guesthouse, and the strong reviews we'd seen beforehand matched what we experienced. Just budget a taxi for the airport rather than counting on public transport.

We picked Casa Agostino specifically for the walk to Bodega Finca Agostino, and it delivered exactly that: out the door, a minute along the road, into the tasting room. The pool and hot tub were a welcome way to wind down afterward, and the on-site restaurant meant we didn't need a taxi for dinner most nights. It's a genuinely four-star stay for the area, though the surrounding canal roads are quiet once the sun goes down.

El Pilar worked well as a base for visiting Bodega Santa Julia, a nine-minute taxi that we did twice during our stay. We also walked to the nearby monument one afternoon, which gave the stay a bit more to do than just the winery circuit. It's a simple property without a pool or spa, but the location relative to a bodega we specifically wanted to visit made it the right call for that trip.

The hot tub was the highlight after long days driving between Zona Este bodegas; it's a genuine spa setup, not just a pool with a sign. The airport shuttle saved arranging a separate taxi on arrival, and the short ride out to see the hot-air balloons lift off was worth the early start. Despite the name, there was no ranch program to speak of, just a well-equipped, practical hostel.

We wanted something quieter than the bigger hotels in the area and Parador del Tiempo delivered that: a simple countryside posada with a short taxi to Bodega Finca Agostino when we wanted a tasting. There's no pool or spa to speak of, and that suited what we were after. Arranging the taxi ourselves each time was the one extra step compared to staying somewhere with more amenities built in.

The extra space paid off across the length of the stay, even if the property doesn't have the polish or documented amenities of some of Rivadavia's other options.

We booked Cabaña Tulumaya for four nights and the kitchen made a real difference, cooking most dinners instead of arranging taxis out every evening. The five-minute ride to Bodegón La Rienda was easy enough to do a couple of times, and a walk in the nearby park broke up the wine-country routine. The longer drive to the airport on departure day was the one thing we'd plan around better next time.

Eco Hostel Ixtlan did exactly what we needed for two nights on a budget Zona Este stop: a clean, simple bed and a short taxi to Bodega Don Manuel Villafañe. We walked out to the road junction one afternoon just to get a feel for the area, which isn't much but was a nice break from the room. The public transport option to the airport turned out to be far too slow, so budget for a taxi if you're catching a flight.
